Listed below are brief descriptions of all of the tasks that appear in the ZENworks Control Center task lists (for example, Server Tasks, Workstation Tasks, Deployment Activities, Bundles Tasks, Configuration Tasks, and so forth). When you click a task, either a wizard launches to step you through the task or a dialog box appears in which you enter information to complete the task. Each wizard page and dialog box has a Help button you can use to get information specific to the task.

Acknowledge All Messages: Changes the unacknowledged messages for an object to acknowledged, which removes them from the Message Log and System Message Log panels.

Add Bundle Content: Adds bundle content to one or more ZENworks Servers and distribution points. Only the specified ZENworks Servers and distribution points will host the bundle content.

Apply Assigned Imaging Bundle: Applies any assigned imaging bundle to a device. If there are no direct assignments available, then this action applies the first preboot bundle that belongs to the inherited assignments of the selected device. The bundle is applied next time when the device checks for imaging work.

Clear ZESM User Defined Password: Clears the user-defined secondary decryption password and the user-defined encryption/decryption password for removable storage devices.

Clear ZESM Local Client Self Defense Settings: Resets the Endpoint Security Agent to use the Client Self Defense settings contained within the device’s effective Security Settings policy. This overrides any local changes made to the settings.

Clear ZESM Local Firewall Registration Settings: Resets the Endpoint Security Agent to use the firewall registration settings contained within the device’s effective Firewall policy. This overrides any local changes made to the settings.

Create Portable Client: Creates a compressed file (portable.zip) that contains a standalone inventory collection utility. You can use this command line utility on a device to create an inventory scan file that you can import into ZENworks Control Center. This enables you to inventory devices on which you cannot install the ZENworks Adaptive Agent or the Inventory-Only module.

Deploy Managed Device: Deploys the ZENworks software to a device and registers it as a managed device in the Management Zone.

Device or Group Members Inventory Scan: Initiates an inventory scan of one or more devices. For each device, the inventory scan uses the Scan Now settings defined for the device (device view > Settings tab > Inventory) to determine what information the scan collects.

Device or Group Members Inventory Wizard: Sends the inventory data collection form to one or more devices. For each device, the Inventory Collection Wizard uses the data collection form defined for the device (device view > Settings tab > Inventory).

Discovered Advertised Devices: Initiates a task to discover devices that have the ZENworks pre-agent installed. The task discovers only devices that have the pre-agent; devices that have the ZENworks Adaptive Agent installed are not discovered.

Download ZENworks Tools: Accesses the ZENworks download page that contains tools and agents in the following sections: Adaptive Agent, Inventory Tools, Imaging Tools, and Administrative Tools.

Edit Deployment Package: Modifies the ZENworks server and registration information contained in an existing Adaptive Agent deployment package.

Encryption: Export Keys: Exports the Management Zone’s data encryption keys to an encrypted, password-protected file. You supply the password during the export process. The file can be used to back up the encryption keys as well as to transfer encryption keys from one Management Zone to another.

Encryption: Generate Key: Generates a new data encryption key for the Management Zone. After a device refreshes to retrieve the new key, any files encrypted on the device are encrypted using the new key.

Encryption: Import Keys: Imports data encryption keys from an export file into the Management Zone. The export file is password protected; you must supply the password during the import.

FDE - Decommission Full Disk Encryption: Prevents access to a device’s encrypted data by decommissioning the device disk. You can temporarily decommission the drive, in which case encrypted data is recoverable with a HelpDesk file or Emergency Recovery Disk, or you can permanently decommission the disk by erasing it.

FDE - Enable Additive User Capturing: Enables one-time user capturing. After the device receives this task, the user capture occurs at the next reboot. Whichever user logs in at that reboot is added to the PBA. To avoid possible security breaches and ensure the correct user capture, coordinate with the intended user when initiating this task.

FDE - Force Device to Send ERI File to Server: Instructs the device to send its Emergency Recovery Information (ERI) file to the ZENworks Server. This file is required to recover any temporarily decommissioned disk.

FDE - Update PBA Password Settings: Updates an existing user’s PBA password or adds a new user (and password) to the PBA.

Force Inheritance: Available when you are viewing or configuring the settings of a bundle folder or policy folder. Ensures that all children (all subfolders as well as individual bundles and policies) inherit the Primary Server and Satellite device settings.

Generate Report: Generates the selected report.

Import Deployable Devices: Adds one or more devices to the Deployable Device list by importing their information from a comma-separated value (CSV) file. You can then deploy the ZENworks software to them to make them managed devices.

Import Inventory: Imports hardware and software information from a device that has been inventoried using the Portable Collector.

Import Managed Device: Registers one or more devices in the Management Zone by importing their information from a comma-separated value (CSV) file. The order of the CSV is WS_1.0, the hostname of the device being registered or imported, the serial number, then the MAC address, that is, WS_1.0,hostname, serialnumber, mac_address. WS_1.0 is the first field that must be specified for each entry and you must not change it. The value for hostname is mandatory, and the values for serial number and MAC address are optional. This creates managed devices in the database that can then be setup with bundles and policies. Later, when the Primary Agent is deployed to these devices, the hostname, serial number, and MAC address are used to reconcile the new Primary Agent to the device that has already been registered in the database.
