To deploy ZENworks Appliance, perform the following:
Ensure that the virtual machine to which you want to deploy ZENworks Appliance meet the requirements listed in Section 2.0, System Requirements.
Download the ZENworks Appliance file from the Novell Download website or download the multi-part ZENworks Appliance ZIP files and create the open virtualization archive (OVA) file.
Based on your hypervisor, download any of the following files:
VMware ESXi: Download the .ova file.
Microsoft Hyper-V: Download the .vhd file.
Citrix Xen Server: Download the .ova file.
Xen Server on SLES: Download the .tar.gz file.
Deploy the ZENworks Appliance to a hypervisor by using the downloaded (.ova, .vhd,or .tar.gz) file.
By default, the VMware tools are installed at the first boot of ZENworks SP4 Virtual Appliance. If the internet connection is not available during the first boot, then whenever the internent connection is available execute the install_vmware_tools script located at /opt/novell/va_install.
Take a snapshot of the virtual machine that you created.
To save the state and data of a virtual machine at a specific point in time. A snapshot can save time in case of any configuration failure.
After deploying ZENworks Appliance, you must add a hard disk of size minimum 15 GB for the ZENworks data before you power on the Virtual Machine.
Depending on your content requirement, you can increase the pre-configured disk space after deploying ZENworks Appliance.
