March 13, 2009

1.0 Overview

The information in this Readme file pertains to Update for Novell® ZENworks® 10 Configuration Management (10.1.3).

The following table contains information on the documentation content changes that were made in this Readme after the initial release of Update for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1.3):

2.0 About Version 10.1.3

Version 10.1.3 is cumulative. It includes all the updates contained in version 10.1.1, version 10.1.2a, and new fixes. It also provides fixes to some of the issues discovered in ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1), ZENworks 10 Asset Management (10.1), and ZENworks 10 Patch Management (10.1).

You can apply version 10.1.3 to:

  • Primary Server that has any of the following versions of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management installed:

    • ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1)
    • Update for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1.1)
    • Update for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1.1c)
    • Update for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1.2a)
  • Managed devices that have ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.0.3) or later installed.

For instructions on downloading and installing version 10.1.3 as an update, see ZENworks System Updates in the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management Administration Reference.

If the installation of an earlier update is still in progress, you can continue to download and install version 10.1.3.

NOTE:Before applying version 10.1.3, it is recommended to remove the earlier updates for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management from ZENworks Control Center.

For administrative tasks, see the Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management documentation Web site.

Some version 10.1.3 changes might have been included in the English version of the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1) guides after they were translated into other languages. We recommend that you check the English documentation for a complete list of the documentation updates. All untranslated documentation updates will be incorporated into the non-English versions of the online documentation with the next media release of ZENworks.

3.0 Product Issues

3.2 Continuing Issues in ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1/10.1.1/10.1.2)

Some of the issues that were discovered in the original shipping version of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1), version 10.1.1, or version 10.1.2 have not yet been resolved. For continuing issues, review:

The Readmes have been updated to indicate which issues were fixed by version 10.1.2.

3.3 Known Issues in Version 10.1.3

3.3.1 Second Primary Servers or managed devices with ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1) installed might reboot multiple times before upgrading to Version 10.1.3

If a management zone consists of a first Primary Server with version 10.1.3 installed and any other Primary Servers or managed devices with ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1) installed, the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1) devices might reboot multiple times (a maximum of three times) when you upgrade them to version 10.1.3.

Workaround: Before upgrading the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1) devices to version 10.1.3, remove the earlier updates for ZENworks 10 Configuration Management from ZENworks Control Center.

  1. In ZENworks Control Center, click Configuration > System Updates.

  2. In the Available System Updates panel, select the check box next to Update for ZCM (10.1.1) and Update for ZCM (10.1.2a).

  3. Click Action > Delete Update.

3.3.2 Unable to upgrade the Remote Management viewer RPM on a Linux device

If you upgrade the Remote Management Viewer RPM from 10.1.0 to 10.1.3 on a Linux device either by clicking the Upgrade Remote Management Viewer link in ZENworks Control Center or by performing the command line operation, the following error message is displayed:

Package already installed.

Workaround: You can continue to use the existing version of the Remote Management Viewer RPM with 10.1.3.

3.3.3 ZENworks Adaptive Agent might crash if the managed device does not have the latest .NET Framework patches

The ZENworks Adaptive Agent runs on .NET Framework provided by Microsoft*. For better performance and stability, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest support packs and patches of .NET 2.0 through Windows Automatic Updates or Patch Management on the agent.

.NET 2.0 SP1 is the latest version supported by Microsoft on Windows 2000. .NET 2.0 SP2 is the latest version supported by Microsoft on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista.

On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, you can directly download and install .NET 2.0 SP2 or upgrade to .NET 3.5 SP1 that includes .NET 2.0 SP2. On Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, you must upgrade to .NET 3.5 SP1 to get the .NET 2.0 SP2 update installed.
