If you are planning to upgrade to the next version of the Novell Client for Windows and you currently have one or more optional components installed that you want to have uninstalled, you can accomplish both tasks at the same time. For example, if you currently have Novell Distributed Print Servicesâ„¢ installed on a workstation and you want to uninstall it so that you can later install Novell iPrint, you can perform the uninstall of Novell Distributed Print Services while you are installing the next version of the Novell Client for Windows.
There are two methods you can use to uninstall components during the upgrade process:
Modify the ACU configuration file (acu.ini) to uninstall components before the upgrade of the Novell Client
Create a configuration (unattend) file in NCIMAN and select components to be uninstalled.
Modify the [Uninstall] section of the acu.ini file and select YES for all components you want to uninstall.
Install the Novell Client using one of the network or Web-based installation methods.
See Section 4.0, Installing and Upgrading the Novell Client on Multiple Workstations.
Create a configuration (unattend) file using nciman.exe.
From the Installation group, select the components you want to remove.
On the component’s property page, select
for each component you want uninstalled.Save the configuration (unattend) file.
Run Update Agent or run ACU from the login script and specify this configuration (unattend) file.
See Installing and Upgrading the Novell Client on Multiple Workstations.
The client software is installed and the unwanted components are removed.
