Offload Retention Data to Less Expensive Storage
A retention pair allows you to tier data between an active storage location and a retention repository.
With Dynamic File Services, users can not access files in the retention repository.
Since not all files are equal, do the smart thing and use your high-performance file server only for active data on the On-Prem primary path. For those files that do not change, but need to be retained for historical or legal reasons, move them to the retention repository.
With Dynamic File Services you can create policies to relocate files to the retention repository based on the date it was last modified; or, further narrow the selection by applying other filters such as the file owner or file type.
