Registration

The Registration page lets you control the settings used when registering devices. The page includes the following panels:

Device Naming Template: Determines how registered devices are named.
Registration Rules: Enables or disables registration rules.
Device Dynamic Rename: Enables device objects in ZENworks Control Center to be renamed as devices update their registration information. Device objects might need to be renamed for the following reasons: 1) the device name has changed, 2) the device naming template has changed since the last time the device registered, or 3) a different naming template, such as a folder naming template rather than the Management Zone naming template, is now being applied to the device.
Reconcile Settings: Determines how to reconcile the existing device objects with the new devices during the registration of the devices in the Management Zone.

You can define the Device Naming Template settings at two levels:

Management Zone: The settings are inherited by all device folders and devices.
Device Folder: The settings are inherited by all devices contained within the folder or its subfolders. Overrides the Management Zone settings.

The Registration Rules and Device Dynamic Rename settings can be configured only at the Management Zone level and not at the device folder level. The settings apply to all devices in the Management Zone.

NOTE:If you are configuring the Device Naming Template settings on a device folder, you need to click Override settings before you can modify the settings.
