Novell® ZENworks® Virtual Machine Management (VM Management) uses two different management consoles: ZENworks Orchestrator and ZENworks VM Management. They are used in the following ways:
ZENworks Orchestrator Console: This console is used to manage and use existing VMs in your data center. It resides on the ZENworks Orchestrator Server, but it can be accessed from an administration device.
In its tree view, the ZENworks Orchestrator Console shows all available physical machines, VM host machines, VMs, and VM Builder host machines that are available in your managed data center. It provides the following administrative functions for VM Management:
Discover VM hosts
Discover existing VMs
Deploy VMs to various repositories
Provision VMs
Migrate or move VMs
Destroy VMs (remove them from the resource tree)
Restore and resynchronize VMs
Clone VMs
Create VM templates
Stop, start, suspend, and restart VM operations
Create a job that installs the Orchestrator Agent on the VMs
Create jobs for managing VMs
Use VMs not checked into the warehouse
Connect to a VMware Virtual Center
ZENworks VM Management Console: This console is used to create, edit, and store VMs. It is installed on administration devices. It provides the following administrative functions for VM Management:
General management of VM Management from the Home page
Build (define and install) VMs
Install applications on VMs
Review the properties of VMs
Edit VMs
Test VMs
Check VMs in and out of the warehouse (includes versioning of the VMs)
Monitor the status of the VMs
Change a VM's Gold Master designation
Retire or delete VMs
Run jobs created for managing VMs
