At the server console press the Alt + Left Shift Key + Right Shift Key + Esc.  This should bring you to a # sign prompt.  Then type EIP=CSleepUntilInterrupt and press enter (This command is case sensitive).  You should then see "Register Changed".  Then type G and this will return you to the server console prompt.

This should not be seen of a fix to the actual problem that caused the hang, but rather just a quick workaround to get access to the server console so that you can cleanly down or restart the server. Using the debugger to put the offending NLM to sleep is similar to what NetWare itself does to an offending NLM in case of an abend. After using the procedure described above, the server is therefore in a similarly degraded state as after an abend.
