Upgrade to client 4.83 generates Paradox 9 network error

Novell Client 4.83 for Windows NT/2000/XP

Novell NetWare 5.1 SP3

Windows NT 4.0

Windows 2000

Paradox reports "network initialization failed cannot access x:\PDNETUSR\PDOXUSRS.NET  Access is denied."

Paradox reports "Paradox will not start in this constellation."
When logging in to workstation only, Paradox will raise the message but will start and work in offline mode.

Problem occurred after upgrade of the client to version 4.83

The PDOXUSRS.NET file which controls concurrent users who work in Paradox databases, is actually written to the specified location.

Customer upgraded to Client 4.83

Packet trace revealed that instead getting a shared lock, the file got a closed lock and thus the application would not be able to read the locked file anymore.

This issue is resolved in NT483PT1.EXE or later. The fix will be also part of the next Client Service Pack for 4.83 (SP1)
