Novell GroupWise 6

GroupWise Client

Smart Purge

Online Mode

Caching Mode

Delete and Empty purging items not backed up

Shift-Delete purging items not backed up

Works correctly in GroupWise 6.5

Smart Purge was not working because the GroupWise client was purging the item before deleting it.

Customers needing this fix can download a GroupWise Client FTF dated June 6th or later or wait for the release of SP4.

Steps to duplicate:

1.  Start ConsoleOne, highlight post office object in GroupWise View, right click on GroupWise Utilities > Client Options > Environment > Cleanup and uncheck "Allow purge of items not backed up".  Verify that the change made it to User by starting GroupWise Client in Online mode and deleting some new mail messages, then in Trash folder purging the items you deleted.  If the Client Options change made it the Trash item count should not change.
2.  Start the GroupWise Client, send yourself some new mail messages, open them, close them, highlight the new mail items and either right click and choose Delete and Empty or press Shift-Delete.  The item count for the Trash folder remains the same.  It should have incremented according to the number of items deleted.
