In order to install new plugins, you must first install the NPM packages and "register" them with portal services.  To do this, you must know the location of the NPM files.  On NetWare, the default packages are located in the SYS:\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\packages directory.  On Windows, they are located in by default in C:\Program Files\Novell\Tomcat\webapps\nps\packages.

When you download new plugins, the NPM's do not need to be located in these directories.  During the installation of the packages, you are asked to browse to the file location, which can be anywhere.

1.  Log into iManager as a Collection Owner (if RBS is configured) or as someone with Supervisor rights to the tree.

2.  Go to the Configure page

3.  Under Module Configuration, choose Install Module Package

4.  Browse to the .NPM file and click the Install button

5.  The install will take a few minutes.

6.  You should get a message that the module was successfully saved and that the servlet engine needs to be restarted.  Click OK.

7.  A Modules page will then pop up and it should list the new module you have just installed.  No need to do anything on this page.

8.  Log out of iManager and close the web browser.

7.  Restart TOMCAT4 according to the table below.

Platform Restart Command
NetWare 6 or later Enter TC4STOP. Wait at least 1 minute, then enter TOMCAT4 to start the service again
Windows Stop and start the Tomcat service
Solaris Enter /var/opt/novell/tomcat4/bin/, then enter /var/opt/novell/tomcat4/bin/
HP-UX Enter /opt/hpws/tomcat/bin/, then enter /opt/hpws/tomcat/bin/
Linux Enter /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat4 stop, then enter /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat4 start

TOMCAT sometimes requires several minutes to fully initialize.  Wait at least 5 minutes before trying to log back into iManager.

8.  Log back into iManager.

NOTE:  If you have not configured Role Based Services (i.e. created an RBS Collection object in the tree), there is no need to go any further.  To verify that you are not using a collection, you should see "Unrestricted Access" in the upper left corner of the browser when you are logged into iManager.  If when logged in, you see "Collection Owner" then you must follow steps 1-7 below.

Steps to follow only if you have a 2.x collection object already present in the tree

1.  Log back into iManager and go to the Configure page again.

2.  Under RBS Configuration, select Configure iManager

3.  Choose the 4th bullet to Upgrade collections and click Next

4.  Make sure you have the correct collection selected and click Next

5.  If you've done everything right, the new plugins should be displayed under Modules to be installed.  Select the ones you want, assign a scope and click Start.

6.  Wait for the "Completed" message and then click Close.

7.  Go back to the Roles and Tasks page and the new Role should show up.
