Unable to initialize logging subsystem.

No data being written to the log file.


The File Channel object needs to be created in the same Channel container as specified on the logging server object's Containers property page in WebAdmin or iManager.

The Log File: attribute is a directory path on the secure logging server. The path specified in this attribute is the directory where the log file named 'log' will get created. This is not the path to the log file itself. Inside the directory listed under Log File: will be the log file named log, and the archive data from the log channel. If the directory specified does not exist, the file channel will create the directory, and the log file inside of that directory.

Make sure that the Log File: setting is populated with a valid file path for the platform that the driver is being loaded on.

For example:
C:\temp\logfile is not a valid path for a NetWare or Linux server.
SYS:\etc\logdir is not a valid path for a Windows or Linux Server.
/var/log/naudit is valid for Linux, but not valid for Windows or NetWare.

If the path specified in the Log File: setting cannot be written to, the file channel (LGDFILE) will refuse to load.

Make sure that the log format is specified appropriately for the requirements of the organization. If the log file is to be in a human readable format, then choose translated. If a delimited format is preferred for import into office applications such as spreadsheet, then choose RAW. LETRANS is an executable that can be used to translate a raw file into a human readable form. However, a translated log file cannot be converted back the other direction.
