How to be notified of a cleared intruder lockout via email with Nsure Audit


 As a network administrator, you want to know when someone resets the intruder lockout on users in the Users container. To do this, it will be necessary to create a notification object that filters on the one of the intruder lockout attributes. It will also be necessary to create an SMTP channel which will send an email to you whenever this happens.

  1. Create an SMTP channel. Use known good server and username configuration. The subject should say, Intruder Lockout Cleared by $SB. The message body should say: Helpdesk agent $SB cleared intruder lockout on user $SU.

  2. Create a notification object. The event ID should be eDirectory Delete Value, AND Attribute should contain Locked By Intruder, AND Originator (perpetrator) should contain .admin.novell OR any other helpdesk staff. If you dont separate out the administrators, you will also get events from the server as it is locking people out. The notification object should be set up to notify the SMTP object. It is also possible to use "and not", rather than "and" and specify all the server names one line at a time.
