Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - ZLM7.2
Novell ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management - ZLM7.3

Situation

On ZLM's managed devices, the following error/warning is seen in /var/log/messages:

Mar 11 08:21:23 zmd: NetworkManagerModule (WARN): Failed to connect to NetworkManager

Resolution

This warning message seems to be specific to SLE 10, because system's NetworkManager is not running. The network for the specific device is not configured using Network Manager, but rather using Traditional method via YaST. If the network device is configured using NetworkManager this warning message would not appear.
On the other hand, if NetworkManager is not desired (as the tool to configure network devices), then to suppress the warning message, change the extension of the file "/usr/lib/zmd/modules/Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.NetworkManager.dll" (rename it) and restart ZMD. That will disable the networkmanager module of ZMD.
Note that future updates of zmd may place a new version of 'Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.NetworkManager.dll', requiring to also be renamed.
