The Secondary Domain Directory has been deleted from the file system but not released in NWAdmin or ConsoleOne
How to delete a Secondary Domain when it no longer is needed

Resolution

  1. Launch ConsoleOne
  2. Connect to the Primary Domain
  3. Right click on the Secondary Domain that needs to be deleted or released and click Properties. If the Properties of the Domain comes up, please go to step 4. If an error message shows up "An error occurred converting the GroupWise object to its eDirectory counterpart" or "The eDirectory counterpart of this object does not exist", please follow the sub-steps listed below:
    • Create an OU in the Tree called temp
    • Click temp
    • Click Tools | GroupWise Utilities | GW / eDirectory Association | Graft GroupWise Objects...
    • Click OK on the DirXML Warnings if any
    • Click Domains, post offices, and gateway in the Graft GroupWise Object screen and click Next
    • Click Next on the Overview screen
    • In the Select Domain screen, click the Domain that needs to be released or deleted and click Next
    • Make sure that the eDirectory context  points to the temp ou that was created and click Next
    • Click Finish
    • Select No on Graft More Objects screen and click Done
  4. In the Properties of the Domain, change the UNC Path to a local path. If ConsoleOne is being run on linux, change it to /tmp. If ConsoleOne is being run on Windows, change it to c:\ and click OK.
  5. Highlight the Secondary Domain and click Tools | GroupWise Utilities | System Maintenance | Rebuild Database and click Run.
  6. Click OK to Rebuild the Database
  7. Click OK on the Database rebuild completed screen
  8. Click Release Secondary and click Run
  9. Click Next on the Release Domain from System screen
  10. Click Next on the Rights Warning Screen
  11. Click Next on the Pending Operations Warning Screen
  12. Make sure the Path to Database points to the one that was set in step 4 and click Next.
  13. In the System name, type anything and click Next
  14. Click Yes to update the eDirectory Objects
  15. Shut down the Primary Domain's MTA if it is running and shut down the Problem or Secondary Domain's MTA if it is running and click Next
  16. Click Release
  17. It may give an error Release Domain Error. Click Exit
  18. Click Close
  19. Collapse and Expand the GroupWise System
  20. The Secondary Domain should be white in color now
  21. Highlight GroupWise System and click Tools | GroupWise System Operations | External System Synchronization
  22. In the External GroupWise Systems screen, it should show the name of the Secondary Domain that is to be deleted and the External System name that was given in step 13. Highlight it and click Delete
  23. Click Yes to confirm
  24. Click Close
  25. Right Click on the Domain to be deleted and click Delete
  26. Click Yes to confirm
  27. Switch to eDirectory View and find the Domain object that was deleted
  28. Highlight the Domain Object on the left hand side and delete any objects underneath it like the MTA
  29. Right Click on the Domain Object in eDirectory view and click Delete NDS Object and click Yes
  30. Click Yes to confirm
