Environment

Novell Client 2 SP2 (IR3) for Windows 7

Situation

When a user logs in, a message appears after loading the desktop, such as:

<TREE_NAME>
You are already logged in to the network as user <username>.
Do you still want to log in as .<username>.<context>?

where the context is a different context than specified on the login screen. If the user clicks on "Yes", they get following error message:

Novell Security Message
The system could not log you into network.
Make sure your name and connection information are correct, then type your password again.

If they click on "No", they will be to enter their username and password on the Novell login screen. If they enter  the correct context, the user is able to log in successfully.

Resolution

Resolved in Novell Client 2 SP2 for Windows (IR5) or later.

Additional Information

Prior to Novell Client 2 SP2 for Windows (IR5), the following workaround was available:

This can be caused by populating the "context" field in the system login profile. Remove this setting by:

1. Right click the red "N" icon and select Novell Client Properties.
2. Click on the System Login Profiles tab, and open the properties of the Default system login profile.
3. Click on the eDirectory tab and clear the contents of the Context field
4. Save the changes.
