Environment

Novell GroupWise 8
Novell GroupWise 2012
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux

Situation

With the post office restore area set up on an OES or SLES server, the windows clients return a D069 error when trying to access that restore area.

Resolution

NFS shares are not supported for a Post Office Restore Area.  Please use NCP or CIFS shares to access the restore area correctly.

Cause

Because of a long-standing file lock issues with NFS, an NFS share cannot be used as a mount to mount a server file system where the GroupWise system is located to a workstation where ConsoleOne is running.  In addition, an NFS mount cannot be used between Linux servers, for example when a POA needs access to a remote restore area or a remote document storage area.

A Samba share can be set up in order to access the Restore area space on the OES/Linux server.  These directions will work for both GW8 and GW2012.

Additional Information

Additional information for setting up the share you can follow the information in Tid 7002221.   The on-line documentation also has steps for setting up a Restore area.  With GW8 and GW2012, go to
  • Section VIII Databases
  • Section 32.0 Restoring GroupWise Databases from Backup
  • Section 32.5 Restoring Deleted Mailbox Items
