Login with VMWare View Client hangs

This document (7012982) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows 7
VMWare View Client

Situation

The VMWare host offers "VMWare View Client" and "Console" logon modes. When using the VMWare View Client, which has its own credential provider. When using this setup with the Novell Client configured for "Logon with non-Novell Credential Provider" ("Passive Mode") the login process fails. When it does, a window opens with messages such as "Your current context is...", "Your current tree is:..." and "You are attached to...." but then the process continues no further (appears to hang). If the user clicks the "Continue" button, the window clears, then the login script launches and everything runs normally.

Resolution

Workaround:

Disable the "UNC Path Filter" feature by setting the "UNC Path Filter" to "Off" in the Novell Client Properties (Red N > Novell Client Properties > Advanced Settings > UNC Path Filter = Off).
