Error: "Access denied. Caller is not allowed access to a file (8201)."

Situation

Error occurs when attempting to load the Post Office Agent.
ERROR: "Access denied. Caller is not allowed access to a file (8201)."
The POA will not load
ERROR: 8201 on ngwguard.db

Resolution

  1. Make sure the virus scanner is not scanning the post office directory.
  2. Make sure there are no other applications like backup software locking the post office directory files.




Additional Information

The Guardian database, NGWGUARD.DB, has a Read-only file attribute.  This was caused by a backup utility.  Another possible cause is the File is Open by a virus scan utility, or some other connection.
