Environment

Novell Filr 1.0.1

Situation

When making changes to the Search appliance via the appliance config (port 9443) such as increasing the Java Heap Size, it is possible for the password to get reset. As a result the Filr appliance is no longer able to communicate with the search index.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is available in the Filr 1.0.1 Hot Patch 1, available via the Novell Patch Finder.

Alternative Solution:
With versions of Filr beyond 1.x, you can:
  1. Go to the Filr server's :9443 page, click the Configuration Tile, click the "Search Appliance" option under the Configuration list, type in the Lucene User Password and click ok.
  2. Add the same password to the Search server by going to the Search server's :9443 page, click the Configuration tile, and set the same password in the two Password fields.
  3. Restart the Filr service on the Filr server after making the change.
