Situation
If a workspace uses a custom workspace view with an unspecified family (or family=NULL), the sidebar navigation fails to load or refresh when the workspace is selected. It is also possible that the breadcrumb trail to the workspace in the top navigation panel also fails to expand when clicked due to this problem.
The following NullPointerException is logged in the appserver.log file when this exception occurs:
