Drive mapping errors 8884, c7e50014, invalid path

This document (7017165) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Novell Client 2 for Windows

Situation

Login scripts which were working fine suddenly begin showing drive mapping errors.

When logging in and executing the login script, users may encounter errors mapping drives, such as in these examples:

LOGIN-LGNWNT32-430: The following drive mapping operation could not be completed.
[N:=MYSERVER\VOL1:\USERS\ADMIN]
The error code was 8884.

Login-LGWNT32-430: The following drive mapping operation could not be completed.
[U:=MYSERVER\VOL2:\]
The error code was c7e50014.

LOGIN-LGNWNT32-470: The specified drive mapping is an invalid path:
[W:\MYSERVER\VOL3:\ACCT\]

Resolution

1. Check for name resolution problems, such as bad DNS records and correct SLP configuration (see TID 7012387). As a troubleshooting step, replace the server name in the map drive statement with the server's IP address. e.g "map H:=152.156.214.131\VOL1:HOME\BILL"

2. Check for services which are not running as expected. A server reboot may be needed.
