Environment

NetIQ Identity Manager 4.5

Situation

IDM 4.5 Identity Applications does not support using a MySQL database.   The only supported databases in IDM 4.5 Identity Applications are PostgreSQL and Oracle.  Prior to upgrading to IDM 4.5 Identity Applications the data in a MySQL database needs to be migrated to either a PostgreSQL or Oracle database.



Resolution

The guide, "MySQL To PostgreSQL Database Migration Utility for User Application 4.0.2/4.02A" outlines the steps to migrate data from a MySQL database into a PostgreSQL database.  The guide  is in the IDM 4.5 documentation under 'Installation and Upgrade'.

Additional Information

The minimum patch level of IDM Roles Base Provisioning 4.0.2 data prior to migrating data from a MySQL database to a PostgreSQL database is Patch D, Patch E, or 4.02A.
(Migration of data from MySQL to Oracle needs to be done by an Oracle dba.)
