Environment

Micro Focus iPrint (Appliance or Open Enterprise Server)

Situation

When attempting to install an SSL enabled iPrint printer to a MacOS High Sierra (version 10.13), the installation dialog spins and does not recover.  The end user is never prompted for credentials.

The same printer installs fine to other versions of MacOS.

Resolution

Install the iPrint Client for Mac version 6.13 or higher.  Version 6.13 of the client is available through the OES update channel, iPrint Appliance Online Updates, or from here.

Workaround:
Reset the Mac print system:
Note: resetting the Mac print system will do the following:
    • Deletes all printer queues and any print jobs that may be within the queues.
    • Resets all printer settings to the factory defaults.
    • Removes all printer preference files.
    • Performs a permissions reset on your Mac's /tmp directory.
    • Removes any printers or scanners previously added to the Printers & Scanners preference pane.

Steps to Reset:
  1. Launch System Preferences by selecting it from the Apple menu, or by clicking its icon in the Dock.
  2. Select the Printers & Scanners preference pane.
  3. In the Printers & Scanners preference pane, place your cursor in an empty area of the printer list sidebar, then right-click and select Reset Printing System from the pop-up menu.
  4. You will be asked if you really want to reset the printing system. Click the Reset button to continue.
  5. You may be asked for an administrator password. Supply the information and click OK.
  6. Uninstall the iPrint Client for Mac.  Re-install the iPrint Client for Mac.

Additional Information

Micro Focus is still in the investigation phase of resolving this issue.  So far, the investigation suggests that using 3rd party certificates is a common factor with those who have reported the problem.
