GroupWise users appear in UPD format in messages routed through the GroupWise 7 Gateway for Microsoft Exchange

Situation

Emails routed through the GroupWise 7 Exchange gateway to GroupWise users do not have the preferred Internet email address.
 
Replying to the email or a mouse over will show the user in UPD or User.PO.Domain format. 

Resolution

Here are steps that you will need to follow to fix the problem in existing setup:
 
1. Start C1 and connect to a GroupWise system.
2. Check properties of the GWEX gateway. Go into GroupWise | Identification tab and in Gateway Alias Type field type Exchange.
3. On Exchange site start Active Directory Users & Computers tool and delete existing GroupWise container with all populated GroupWise Contacts.
4. From the GWEX gateway go into Actions | Synchronize Directories to repopulate GroupWise users back into Active Directory.
5. After that when you login in any Exchange mailbox, pick any GW recipient from the system AB and send a mail over to GW site, GW recipient can see all GW recipients of that mail in First Last / Last First format instead of UPD one.
