Reintroduction of Daylight Saving Time in Argentina in 2007 and its impact on SUSE Linux Enterprise products

Situation

In December 2007, the government of Argentina decided to reintroduce Daylight Saving Time (DST), effective December 30th 2007. Systems processing time data need to be updated accordingly.

This issue has been fixed in the current maintenance versions of the affected packages.

Package and version details for SLE10 products

The following packages are affected for SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 products:

  • glibc: Fixes are included as of version 2.4-31.43.6 (released as zypp-patch-4966).
  • PHP: Fixes are included as of version 5.1.2-29.54 (released as zypp-patch-5016).
  • IBM Java 1.5: Fixes are included as of version 1.5.0_sr6-0.10 (released as zypp-patch-5045).
  • IBM Java 1.4.2: Fixes are included as of version 1.4.2_sr9-0.8 (released as zypp-patch-5044).
  • Sun Java: Fixes are included as of version 1.4.2.16-0.5 (released as zypp-patch-5007).
  • Evolution: This issue is fixed for evolution-data-server as of version 1.6.0-43.66.3 (released as zypp-patch 4971).
All of these fixes have been integrated into SLES10 SP2 and SLED10 SP2.

  • glibc: This issue is fixed as of version 2.3.3-98.96 (released as patch-12066).
  • IBM Java: This issue is fixed for IBM Java 5 for SLES9 and related products in version 1.5.0-0.15 (released as patch-12063) and newer.
  • Sun Java: Fixes are included as of versions 1.4.2-129.36 (IA64 architecture) and 1.4.2-129.37 (other architectures) (released as patch-12087).
  • Evolution: This issue is fixed for evolution-data-server as of version 1.0.4-0.7 (released as patch-12069).
Note: This issue does not affect PHP for CODE9 products as it does not include the built-in timezone database.
