Slow Login, Non-sorted or Missing objects in user source with Partitioned eDirectory

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1

Situation

Drilling down into a user source (eDirectory only) may show unsorted (for example, non-alphabetical) entries and some objects may be missing.  Logins may be slow to this user source realm.

This only occurs when the LDAP server used by the user source is on eDirectory and does not contain copies of all replicas used in the search/browse.

Resolution

Ensure that the LDAP server used in the User source configuration contains readable copies of the replicas that will be used in any sort or browse of the user source (anything underneath the LDAP root context in the user source configuration details).

Additional Information

The LDAP server should contain readable copies of all replicas that will be used in any search or browse operation because indexing on eDirectory is server specific.  In general, this will give much better performance for ZENworks agent login.

Also, the ZENworks server uses server side sort control which has some restrictions.  See KB 7001493 at: https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7001493.
