Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3 Imaging

Situation

The inventory-only agent got installed on the Linux Primary Server which got selected as master server to start the TFTP replication.

The inventory-only agent got installed on a device having the same host name as the Linux Primary Server configured to be the master server to start TFTP replication.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.3.2 - see KB 7007237 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

A fix for this issue is included in ZENworks 11, see KB 7006995 "ZENworks 11 - information and updates" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

Up to ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.1, when selecting the Master Primary Server to start the TFTP replication, the selected server's host name was searched for in the sql database to find the device GUID to store it in the respective TFTP replication configuration entry in the database (settings.tftp.title entry in the zSystemSettings table). In case an inventoried device with same host name as the primary server existed in the zone, that device's GUID could be picked instead of the one from the Primary Server devices object. In such a case a wrong device GUID was stored, and the TFTP replication never starts.

Since ZCM 10.3.2 and 11 the Primary Server device GUID is directly set instead of searching for the device host name in the sql database.
