Situation

During the storing of an STR created from a Japanese workstation, the storing process stops while updating the database.

Resolution

For ZDM7: Fixed in ZENworks 7 with SP1 Desktop Management, available athttps://download.novell.com

For ZDM6.5 SP2: fixed in ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management SP2 IR1 or newer found athttps://download.novell.com

You can switch to use the JCONN2 driver instead of the JDBCDRV to avoid this issue. To do this, change jconn2=true inside the \zenworks\inv\server\wminv\properties\StorerDebug.properties and then restart the Inventory service.

Additional Information

The cause of this issue comes from the use of the JDBCDRV.ZIP driver the storer uses by default to connect with the Sybase database. The storing is failing when writing values with large numbers of characters, such as localization files.
