This course is for students seeking the Novell Open Enterprise for NetWare Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) certification who have entry-level experience in managing computer networks. This course does not require that you have occupational experience with Novell products; however, it does assume you have some prior knowledge of Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare.

You must have an understanding of the following:
  • Foundations of Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare (Course 3080)
  • Terminology, hardware, and practices, (such as routers, hubs, switches, backbones, and subnets) commonly used in medium to large enterprise networks.

Course Testing Information

This course prepares you to take the Novell Open Enterprise Server for Netware Advanced Administration course (3082) in preparation the Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare CNE (Certified Novell Engineer) certification.

Although there is no Novell Exam associated with this course, you can take a Technical Skills Assessment (TSA) for Course 3081 to evaluate if you are ready for Course 3082 (see Technical Skills Assessment).

Exams you need to take to qualify for the Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare CNE certification include

  • Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare Advanced Administration (Course 3082; Exam 050-707)
  • Novell eDirectory Design & Implementation: eDirectory 8.8 (Course 3067; Exam 050-695)

NOTE: If you are a current Novell NetWare 6 CNE, you can upgrade to the Novell Open Enterprise Server for Netware CNE certification by taking Upgrading to Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare (Course 3083; Exam 050-701.
