2.0 About Version 10.1.1

This version provides fixes to some of the issues discovered in ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1), ZENworks 10 Asset Management (10.1), and ZENworks 10 Patch Management (10.1).

For instructions on downloading and installing version 10.1.1 as an update, see ZENworks System Updates in the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management Administration Reference.

For administrative tasks, see the Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management documentation Web site.

Some version 10.1.1 changes might have been included in the English version of the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1) guides after they were translated into other languages. We recommend that you check the English documentation for a complete list of the documentation updates. All untranslated documentation updates will be incorporated into the non-English versions of the online documentation with the next media release of ZENworks.

3.0 Product Issues

3.1 Issues Resolved by Version 10.1.1

Some of the issues identified in the initial version of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management have been resolved with this release. For a list of the resolved issues, see TID 7001406 in the Novell Support Knowledgebase.

3.2 Continuing Issues in ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1)

Some of the issues that were discovered in the original shipping version of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1) have not yet been resolved. Review the Release Readme for continuing issues. The Release Readme has been updated to indicate which issues were fixed by the update.

3.3 Known Issues in Version 10.1.1

This section contains information about the known issues discovered in version 10.1.1.

3.3.1 The Edit INI File action configured with ZENworks macros fails if the ZENworks Server and the managed devices are not upgraded to version 10.1.1

Workaround: Upgrade the ZENworks Server and the managed devices to version 10.1.1.

3.3.2 Updating ZENworks Adaptive Agents to “Update for ZCM (10.1.1)”

To update agents:

  1. Complete the ZCM Update 10.1.0 to all devices in the Management Zone.

  2. Ensure that the status of the ZCM Update 10.1.0 is Baselined.

  3. If there are Agents that cannot get the deployment of ZCM 10.1.0, click Pending or Failed and mark those Agents as Ignore.

  4. Deploy Update for ZCM (10.1.1) to all servers in the Management Zone.

  5. Deploy Update for ZCM (10.1.1) to all managed devices in the Management Zone.

Any devices that are assigned the Update for ZCM (10.1.1) prior to the ZCM Update 10.1.0 being Baselined correctly apply the "ZCM Update 10.1.0" first; however, this results in multiple reboots.

For more information, see TID 7001539 in the Novell Technical Support Knowledgebase.

3.3.3 System Update is wrongly applied to new devices when the ZCM 10.1.1 agent is installed

Until the fix for this issue is incorporated in a future System Update, a field test file can be downloaded from the Novell Downloads page by searching for ZCM_10_1_1_SystemUpdate_434844.

To install the file on Windows* devices:

  1. Copy the msi to %ZENWORKS_HOME%\install\downloads\msi.

  2. Execute the novell-zenworks-configure -c CreateExtractorPacks -Z command.

  3. Ensure that all options are selected, then click OK.

To install the file on Linux* devices:

  1. Copy the msi to /opt/novell/zenworks/install/downloads/msi.

  2. Execute the novell-zenworks-configure -c CreateExtractorPacks -Z command.

  3. Ensure that all options are selected, then click OK.

When the agent is registered, you can see that the "pending" count for devices to receive the 10.1.1 update increases by 1.

3.3.4 Unable to perform ZENworks Third-Party Imaging in the WinPE Maintenance mode after applying the system update

If you have uploaded the WIM Imaging file on a Primary Server or an Imaging Satellite Server, the WinPE Maintenance mode is not available in the PXE mode after you apply the system update. Consequently, you cannot perform ZENworks Third-Party Imaging in the WinPE Maintenance mode.

Workaround:

  1. Before applying the system update, take a reliable backup of pxemenu.txt. The file is located in the /srv/tftp/ directory on Linux and in the installation_path\novell\zenworks\share\tftp directory on Windows.

  2. Install Update for Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management (10.1.1).

For more information on installing version 10.1.1, see ZENworks System Updates in the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management Administration Reference.

  3. Restore the backed-up pxemenu.txt file to the /srv/tftp/ directory on Linux and to the installation_path\novell\zenworks\share\tftp directory on Windows.

3.3.5 The desktop settings configured in the Group Policy might not be effective on Windows Vista

Workaround: Restart Windows Explorer after applying the policy on the Windows Vista* managed device.
