Editing the List of File Extensions for Scanning

The scan program scans the managed workstations for the file extensions (.EXE,.COM,.CFG, and others) that you specify in the Software List Editor.

You can add file extensions that you want to be scanned or modify the existing list of file extensions. The file extensions you specify determine the types of files scanned at the managed workstations.

By default, the scan programs scan for the application files with the extensions (.EXE and .COM) on the managed workstations. You can modify the file extension list to specify up to 13 different file extensions using the Software List Editor. If the file extension list is empty, the scan programs will only scan files with .EXE and .COM extensions.

To include the application files for scanning, the file size of the application files at the managed workstation should exceed 99 Bytes.

To specify the file extensions for scanning at the managed workstations

  1. In the Software List Editor window, type the file extension that you want to append.

To modify the file extensions, edit the line. If you want to remove the listed file extensions, delete the file extension from the line.

Adding New Applications for Scanning

The scan program collects software information about the applications selected from the Software Scan Policy window.

You can add new applications to the list that will be scanned at the managed workstations. To add a new application, you must provide the details of the application using the Software List Editor. The applications that you add are listed in the Software Scan Policy window.

To add a new application scanning

  1. In the Software List Editor window, click New to specify the details of the application.
