B.3 VFS Implementation

The BCC VFS is implemented through the BCCVFS.NLM. When this NLM is loaded, the BCC virtual files ( see Section B.5, BCC XML Tags) are created on the _ADMIN volume of the corresponding NetWare server. These files are created in the _ADMIN:\Novell\Cluster directory, and exist as long as the BCCVFS.NLM is loaded. The VFS implementation is available on Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP1 Linux and later with BCC 1.2 for Linux.

BCCVFS.NLM is loaded on all nodes of a cluster that is a member of a BCC. Consequently, any node in the cluster can be used to manage the BCC. Furthermore, the cluster creates a virtual NCP server using the name of the cluster. This is desirable because management utilities do not need to monitor the health and state of individual nodes in the cluster. To manage the BCC, management utilities simply contact the virtual NCP server of the cluster.
