NDK: Media Manager for NetWare 5.x and 6.x

This document describes a layer in the NetWare® 5 Operating System's Storage IO environment called the Media Manager.

IMPORTANT:When developing applications for NetWare 5.x and 6.x servers (that won't be used on NetWare 3.12 through 4.x servers), do not use the Media Manager for NetWare 3.12 through 4.x functions. Instead call the functions that are documented here.

When developing applications for NetWare 3.12 through 4.x servers (which support only a single processor), use the Media Manager and Partition Management APIs in NetWare Peripheral Architecture. Those APIs also work with NetWare 5, but they do not support NetWare 5's multiple processor capabilities.

Most of the functions documented in this section work with both NetWare 5.x and NetWare 6.x. In future releases, the supporting NetWare versions will be marked for each function and object.

This guide contains the following sections:

Audience

This guide is intended for developers of NetWare storage related applications. There is no discussion in this document relative to developing device drivers. All material is relative to the NetWare 5 Media Manager.
