B.1 Exchange Server Directory Structure

When you run the Exchange Gateway, it adds a file to the Exchange installation directory.

  • Exchange Server installation directory
  • Subdirectory for Exchange server executables
  • Subdirectory for addressing-related files
  • Subdirectory for files that support the GroupWise address type
  • Program that generates GroupWise addresses from Exchange addresses

B.1.1 exchsvr directory

The exchsvr directory is the standard directory to which Microsoft Exchange is installed on a server. On Windows NT, it is located at the root. On Windows 2000/2003, it is located in the Program Files directory.

B.1.2 bin directory

The bin directory contains the Exchange server programs, some of which are used by the Exchange Gateway Installation program.

B.1.3 address directory

The address directory contains a subdirectory for each address type that defined in the Exchange system. In addition the GroupWise address type, address types include SNMP, cc:Mail, and X.400.

gwise\i386 directory

The gwise\i386 directory is where the Exchange Gateway Installation program installs the program that makes GroupWise users addressable in the Exchange system.

gwproxy.dll file

The gwproxy.dll file is the program that generates GroupWise-type addresses for all Exchange users.
