Reinstalling to Upgrade the 90-day Evaluation License

You can check how many days are left on a 90-day license by entering zfsversion -license on a server's command line.

This will display the current license information. If "License: Unlimited" is displayed, the reinstallation worked for that purpose.

To upgrade a 90-day evaluation license to an unlimited version on servers where you installed an evaluation version of ZfS, do the following:

Upgrading a Management and Monitoring Services Evaluation License

To upgrade the 90-day evaluation license for the Management and Monitoring Services component of ZfS:

  1. Log in with Admin or equivalent rights to the root of the tree containing the target management server.

  2. Insert the licensed version of the ZENworks for Servers 3.0.2 Program or ZENworks 6 Server Management Program CD.

If the startup screen is not automatically displayed after inserting the CD, run WINSETUP.EXE at the root of the CD.

  3. Click Management and Monitoring Services > Install.

  4. Select Site Management Server License.

  5. The license path to where the license file is present is displayed; if the default path is not displayed, browse to select:

    folder_where_winsetup.exe_is_present\ZfS\SvrMgmt\english
  6. Select the site server where you want to install the license to be installed > click Next.

You can only install the license on one site server at a time.

  7. Repeat Step 1 through Step 6 for each site server to be upgraded from a 90-day evaluation license.

Your Management and Monitoring Services servers are now using an unlimited license.

Upgrading a Policy and Distribution Services, Server Inventory, and Remote Management Evaluation License

To upgrade the 90-day evaluation license to an unlimited license for your policy-enabled Server Management servers (the Policy and Distribution Services, Server Inventory, and Remote Management components):

  1. Insert the licensed version of the ZENworks for Servers 3.0.2 Program or ZENworks 6 Server Management Program CD.

If the startup screen is not automatically displayed after inserting the CD, run WINSETUP.EXE at the root of the CD.

  2. On the main installation menu, click Policy-Enabled Server Management > click Install/Upgrade.

  3. If you agree with the Software License Agreement, click Accept > Next.

  4. Click Next to perform a new installation.

  5. Click only the Policy and Distribution Services check box > click Next.

You only need to install to Distributor and Subscriber servers to update the 90-day evaluation software to a full license for the Policy and Distribution Services, Server Inventory, and Remote Management components.

  6. On the Installation Options page, uncheck the Create eDirectory Objects option > click Next.

The Install Software Files option must be checked. The Pause File Copying option is optional.

WARNING:  You only want to install software. If you allow eDirectory objects to be reinstalled, ZfS may not work correctly.

  7. Click Add Servers > browse for the servers where you have installed the 90-day evaluation license version of ZfS 3.0.2.

  8. On the Server Selection page for each listed server, click the check boxes the match the type of software that was previously installed on each of them.

IMPORTANT:  You only need to enable the Database column if you are reinstalling because of corruption of the Database file, or if the file was inadvertently deleted. For the purpose of upgrading a 90-day license, you do not need to check the Database column.

  9. When you have finished configuring the selected servers, click Next.

  10. On the File Installation Paths and Options page, enter the correct installation paths for each server > click Next.

IMPORTANT:  These paths must match the paths you gave when you installed the 90-day evaluating version of the software.

You can ignore the Trusted Tree check box, because eDirectory objects are not being created or updated.

  11. On the Installation Summary page, click Finish to upgrade the selected servers from a 90-day evaluation license to a full license.

  12. Repeat these steps as necessary.

Your policy-enabled Server Management servers are now using an unlimited license.
