Policy and Distribution Services Minimum Requirements for NetWare Servers

and

Policy and Distribution Services Minimum Requirements for Windows Servers

Added the following paragraph below the requirements tables:

ZfS 3.0.2 can be installed in a mixed eDirectory environment, such as servers in the directory tree containing an earlier version of eDirectory (NDS® 6.x or 7.x). However, ZfS 3.0.2 requires eDirectory 8.x to be installed, but not necessarily on the server where you are installing the ZfS software. eDirectory 8.x must simply be installed somewhere in the network so that ZfS objects can be placed in the tree during installation of the product. The only requirement for any server where you install ZfS is that it can communicate with the server where eDirectory is installed.

Editing the TED Configuration File

Added the following paragraph:

If you installed to NetWare or Windows servers before installing to Linux or Solaris servers, you will have been instructed to install Distributors before installing Subscribers. However, the Linux/Solaris installation script handles Subscribers first. Keep this in mind as you edit the TED configuration file so that your Distributor and Subscriber objects are created with the intended names.

Upgrading ZENworks for Servers

The following changes were made in this section:

Location Change

Upgrading from ZENworks for Servers 2

Updated this section for upgrading from version 2 to 3.0.2.

Installing ZfS Software to New Servers When You Are Also Upgrading Incrementally

Edited the one set of steps to be three sets of steps, one set for each platform.

Meeting Policy and Distribution Services Requirements for NetWare and Windows Servers

Added the eDirectory 8.0 requirement.

Upgrading from ZENworks for Servers 3

Added this new section for upgrading from version 3/SP1 to 3.0.2.

This section was updated for ZfS 3.0.2, ZfD 4.0.1, and previous versions of ZfS and ZfD.

Appendixes

The following changes were made in this section:

Location Change

Setting Up Supporting Software To Meet ZfS System Requirements

Removed the "Installing Novell iManager" section. This section is no longer referenced from other Installation guide sections, because the installer is now directed to the iManager documentation site for installation instructions.

Setting Up Supporting Software To Meet ZfS System Requirements

Removed the "Installing the Jakarta Tomcat Servlet Gateway" section. This section is no longer needed because it is taken care of when installing iManager 1.5.1.

Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader

Added this new section.

Previously for ZfS 3, an older version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader existed on the Program CD for accessing documentation PDF files that are on the CD. This older version of the Reader did not require it to be installed on the workstation; it could run from the CD for viewing PDF files on the CD.

However, this older version has limited functionality that is not fully compatible with the PDF files currently produced by Novell. Therefore, we now require version 5 or later for viewing Novell PDF files contained on Program CDs. We no longer provide the older Reader.
