6.5 Adding Novell BorderManager to a Site That Already Has a Firewall

In this scenario, Company A already has a third-party firewall in place and wants to add Novell BorderManager as a proxy server. Company A wants to be able to just add the server onto the existing network. Company A has the following requirements:

The following Novell BorderManager components are used to implement this scenario, as shown in Figure 6-5.

To add a Novell BorderManager proxy server to an existing firewall, Company A must perform the following general sequence of steps:

  1. Install Novell BorderManager. Because there is only one NIC, make sure it is selected as both Private and Public during the installation.

  2. Enable and configure the Transparent proxy application on the Novell BorderManager server.

  3. (Optional) Enable and configure access control rules.
