You should have already installed the Administration Server as described in Section 4.0, Setting Up the Administration Server.
The following procedure outlines the steps required to set up a dedicated image building server.
To install the Novell Linux Point of Service software on the image building server:
Start the YaST utility by inserting Novell Linux Point of Service 9 CD 1 into the drive and rebooting the computer.
At the SuSE boot screen, select
.Go through the rest of the initial installation screens as outlined in Section 2.5.1, Starting the YaST Utility.
When you get to the Installation Settings menu, make your settings as outlined in Section 2.5.2, The Installation Settings Screen.
For the
option, select the NLPOS Image Server software selection.This selection installs all Administration and Branch Server packages to the server, plus the Image Builder components listed in Table 4-1.

When you have finished making your installation settings, click
.When prompted, answer Yes to start the installation.
YaST partitions the drive, applies the installation settings, and copies the necessary files from NLPOS CD 1 to disk.
As prompted, insert each requested CD, then click
.When it finishes with the basic installation, the system reboots and YaST starts again.
Continue through the screens as outlined in Section 2.5.3, The YaST Configuration Phase.
After you have completed the options in the Hardware Configuration menu, click
.Remove any CDs from the drive, and then click
to complete the installation.The system reboots.
Log in as root.
You are now ready to copy the default boot images to the Administration Server.
To copy the default boot images from the image building server to the Administration Server:
Copy /opt/SLES/POS/image/initrd-disknetboot-version-date.gz on the image server to the /opt/SLES/POS/rsync/boot/ directory on the Administration Server as initrd.gz.
Copy /opt/SLES/POS/image/initrd-disknetboot-version-date.kernel. kernel_ version on the image server to the /opt/SLES/POS/rsync/boot/ directory on the Administration Server as linux.
