Amanda, or Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver, is an archiving tool that backs up data residing on a single server, or multiple computers on a network, to a tape-based or disk-based storage system. Amanda uses native dump and GNU tar facilities, and it can back up a large number of workstations and servers running various versions of Linux, UNIX, or Microsoft Windows operating systems.
