Installing ZENworks Desktop Management

Novell® ZENworks® 6.5 Desktop Management is one of the core components of the ZENworks 6.5 Suite. It uses Policy-Driven Automation to reduce and, in some cases, eliminate desktop management tasks such as software distribution, software repair, desktop configuration, workstation imaging, remote management, and workstation inventory throughout the life cycle of the device.

This chapter provides ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management information in a component-by-component format. It is up to you to determine which of the Desktop Management components you want to install, configure, and use in your unique business network to address unique user needs. The information includes the following:

NOTE:  Although ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management components can be installed on network servers using NetWare® 5.1, NetWare 6.0, Windows NT 4, or Windows 2000, the scenarios documented describe an installation on a Novell Small Business Suite 6.6 server only. NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 3 is included as part of the Novell Small Business Suite 6.6 software.

ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management Software

The information in this chapter assumes that you will be using ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management software as shipped in the Novell Small Business Suite 6.6. This version includes five CDs that contains the image for the Desktop Management, Companion CD 1, Companion CD 2, Personality Migration, and Software Packaging.
