After it is loaded, it is not intended to be unloaded. If an unload is attempted, the server abends.

An iPrint gateway. Functions with ph.nlm to provide communication between iPrint and the actual printer for job data and printer status and control.

This is an older gateway that provides little or no status and control, but is useful where older protocols are required to communicate with the printer.

Protocols supported for job transmission include server-connected parallel and serial ports and Remote Printer (RP) protocol on IPX. LPR on IP is also supported, but is better supported by the ndpsgw nlm gateway.

Unloaded automatically when the print manager shuts down the last Printer Agent for which they are operating.

Unloading the ph.nlm causes an unload of the ndpds.nlm.

The ndpds.nlm is dependent on dplsv386.nlm, pfpnpd.nlm, pfplib.nlm, dsapi.nlm, clib.nlm, the OS, and others. Its primary value is through communication with the print manager and ph.nlm.

Loaded by the print manager when the manager starts a Printer Agent that is configured to use these particular NLM programs for its gateway.

They can also be loaded manually for test purposes and to get help and current configuration information, but only if the print manager is already loaded. Ph.nlm must be loaded before the ndpds.nlm can load successfully.

Provides NDPS print service to NDPS (client32) clients. Supports legacy print queues. Accepts requests from other NLM programs that support LPR, iPrint, etc. Accepts management and query requests from jndps.nlm.

If unloaded, NDPS print service is not available. Other print protocols (including iPrint and LPR) are not available.

Interacts with NDPS brokered services: ntfysrvr.nlm, regsrvr.nlm, and rmansrvr.nlm. Dependent on dplsv386.nlm and dprpcnlm.nlm. Depending on configuration, it loads ndpds.nlm, ndpsgw.nlm, ippsrvr.nlm, and lpr2ndps.nlm.

When invoked during installation, the upgrade utility retains the existing configuration into the new configuration files, nfs.cfg, nis.cfg, and nfsserv.cfg located in sys:\etc. The existing configuration files nfsthost, and nfsexprt are retained.

During installation, if N4S schema is detected, then the UAM schema gets extended automatically to support features, such as, multiple domain support, RFC2307 compliance for NIS, and starting and stopping NIS services from ConsoleOne.
