Preparing for the Upgrade

1. Review Preparing for Installation . The same preparation tasks apply for upgrading an existing system or installing a new system.

2. (Optional) Remove the existing Purchase and Usage objects in eDirectory.

   This is optional because there are no known issues with keeping your existing Purchase and Usage objects. During installation, the Purchase and Usage object attributes are changed minimally. A commerceAccessPolicy attribute is added to both objects and a commerceBudgetHolder attribute is added to the Purchase object. After these changes, your existing Purchase and Usage objects should continue to work with OnDemand Services 2.

   1. Change the status of each Purchase object to Billed and Deletable.

   2. Wait until the Maintenance process deletes the objects.

3. If you don't plan to continue running the OnDemand Services 1.5 Maintenance and UsageServer processes while you upgrade (see Maintenance and UsageServer Processes ) and they currently reside in the same NetWare directory where you want to install the OnDemand Services 2 processes (by default, sys:\ondemand), delete or rename the directory.
