Be aware of the following:
Upgrade SLES and OES at the same time: Always upgrade SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 and OES 1 Linux at the same time; otherwise, all OES 1 packages (RPMs) are removed and upgrading to OES 2 Linux is no longer possible. (You must install a new OES 2 server.)
Non-OES 2 Packages Are Deleted by Default: During the upgrade process, packages that are not part of the SLES 10 and OES 2 distributions are automatically selected for deletion.
Examples include:
OES 1 services not included in OES 2:
Such as iFolder 2, eGuide, and Virtual Office. For more information, see Where Are eGuide, IFolder 2, and Virtual Office?
in the OES 2: Planning and Implementation Guide.
Other Novell products: Such as GroupWise®, ZENworks®, and Identity Manager.
SLES 9 services not included in SLES 10.
Third-party products.
To manually retain packages, you must follow the steps outlined in Section 5.3.7, Reviewing the Delete Unmaintained Packages Notification.
IMPORTANT:There is no guarantee that packages you have manually retained will run on the SLES 10 kernel. For specific compatibility information, see the documentation for the impacted product.
