13.2 Changing the Language Setting on OES Linux Servers

If you are copying extended ASCII or double-byte character set data from a NetWare server to an OES Linux server using the Novell Server Consolidation Utility, you must first change the language setting on the Linux server to match the language used on the NetWare server. You can do this using the YaST utility. See “Language Selection” in the SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server documentation for more information.

13.2.1 Copying Data from NetWare 5.1 Source Servers

The following additional steps are required for NetWare® 5.1 source servers. They are not necessary for NetWare 6.0, NetWare 6.5, or OES NetWare servers.

  1. On the NetWare 5.1 server, install the updated SMS Target Service Agent (TSA) modules included in tsa5up18.exe or later. To download this update, see TID #2971717.

  2. On the OES Linux server, install the new SMS tsafs (.39) rpm that comes with the Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit.

  3. Change the language setting on the OES Linux server to match the language on the NetWare server, as explained in Section 13.2, Changing the Language Setting on OES Linux Servers.

  4. Unload the tsafs module by typing the following command at the shell prompt:

    /opt/novell/sms/bin/smsconfig -u tsafs

  5. Reload the tsafs module with support for multi-byte character set data (this command is case-sensitive):

    /opt/novell/sms/bin/smsconfig -l tsafs --useCodeset=SJIS-WIN

  6. Verify the new setting by typing the following command:

    /opt/novell/sms/bin/smsconfig -t
