The following table lists the downloadable image names, their MD5 checksums, and approximate file sizes. Use this table to validate that your downloaded images are correct.

To verify downloaded file integrity, you must check each file's MD5 values by doing one of the following:

  1. On a Linux system at the shell prompt, enter the following command:
    md5sum filename
    where filename is the name of the file you are verifying.
  2. On a Windows system, obtain a Windows-compatible MD5-based checksum utility from the Web and follow the usage instructions for the utility.

downloading the SUSE Linux 10.0 Evaluation software:

  1. Download the ISO file SUSE-10.0-EvalDVD-i386-GM.iso from the public ftp server of your choice. For this you will need about 3.5 GB of storage space.
  2. Use a burning application of your choice to burn the ISO file to a blank DVD. Select the option that allows burning a DVD image and/or a iso9660 filesystem.
  3. Insert the DVD in your DVD drive and boot your system from it. The regular SUSE Linux 10.0 installation starts.

  4. Test your new SUSE Linux and take a look at the office, e-mail, Internet, photograph management, and other applications.
  5. Impressed? Then visit the SUSE home page and order your full version with detailed documentation and free installation support.
