D.6 ZENworks Configuration Management Policies

Some of the ZENworks Configuration Management policies are enforced in the pre-login, post-login and pre-desktop processes. Multiple policies and settings can lead to perceived slowness in ZENworks login times.

D.6.1 Group Policy

Multiple Device or User Assigned Group policies might lead to slow logins. This is because the Group Policy settings of the policies are merged and the effective set of attributes to be enforced on the device is calculated in the pre-login process.

D.6.2 DLU or Roaming Profile Policy

  • Any of the DLU and Roaming Profile policies or a combination of both of these policies can cause certain slow login experiences, especially when they are configured to be volatile.

  • When you use DLU policies, you should configure non-volatile user profiles, if users must use the same device for a long period of time.

  • When you use Roaming Profile policies, you should ensure that the shared profile path is reachable and that the profiles are uploaded and retrieved faster.

D.6.3 Printer Policy

Many Printer policies can make the end user feel that login is slow because it takes time to install all of the printers.

D.6.4 LFR Policy

A wrongly configured LFR (Local File Rights) policy (for instance, an LFR policy configured to set rights or permissions on a non-existent file or folder) can cause login delays. You need to consider this when you configure your LFR policies.
