News Download Schedule

The News Download Schedule page lets you configure a dedicated news server and schedule type to download the ZENworks News.

Dedicated News Server

By default, any available server in the Management Zone can be used to download the news updates. However, you can specify one ZENworks Server to be dedicated to handle the news downloads. The server that you select should have access to the Internet, either directly or through a proxy server.

To configure a dedicated news server, perform the tasks in the following table:

This resets the dedicated server to the last saved setting, such as when you last clicked Apply or OK.

This causes all the news updates to be retrieved through this server for the whole Management Zone.

The server’s identification is displayed in the Dedicated News Server field.

This server must be a member of the Management Zone.

If you do not specify a server, the news is retrieved through the closest available server in the Management Zone.

  2. (Conditional) If you need to revert to the last saved dedicated server setting, click Reset.

  3. Click Apply to make the change effective.

This causes the news to be retrieved through the closest available server in the Management Zone.

Schedule Type

You can configure the schedule for downloading the news:

  • No schedule: With this option selected, the only way you can check for news updates is to do so manually by clicking Update Now in the ZENworks News Alerts panel on the home page.

  • Recurring: With this option selected, the news is regularly updated at a specified interval.

To schedule how often to check for news updates:

  1. In the Schedule Type field, select Recurring.

  2. Select one or more of the check boxes for the days of the week when you want to check for updates

  3. Use the three Start Time fields to specify the start time for each selected day.

  4. (Optional) To configure other scheduling options, click More Options, then fill in the fields:

Process Immediately if Device Unable to Execute on Schedule: Causes the checking for news updates to occur as soon as possible if the checking cannot be done according to schedule. For example, if a server is down at the scheduled time, checking for news updates occurs immediately after the server comes back online.

Use Coordinated Universal Time: Causes the schedule to interpret the times you specify as UTC instead of local time.

Start at a Random Time Between Start and End Times: Allows checking for updates to occur at a random time between the time you specify here and the time you specified in Step 3. Fill in the End Time fields.

Restrict Schedule Execution to the Following Date Range: In addition to the other options, you can specify a date range for when checking for news updates can occur.

  5. (Conditional) If you need to revert to the last saved schedule, click Reset at the bottom of the page.

This resets all data to the last saved state, such as when you last clicked Apply or OK.

  6. Click Apply to make the changes effective.
