UDP

User Datagram Protocol.

In Server Management, a transport protocol in the Internet suite of protocols. UDP, like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), uses IP for delivery; however, unlike TCP, UDP provides for exchange of datagrams without acknowledgement or guaranteed delivery.

uniprocessor

A workstation or a server with only one central processing unit.

Contrast with multiprocessor.

Unsecure System user mode

In Desktop Management, an Environment security option that runs an application in the system space as the Windows System user instead of in the user space as the logged-in user, so that the user can run locally-installed applications even if he or she has limited file system rights. The application's interface is displayed to the user and normal functionality is available.

user-associated application

In Desktop Management, an application to which a user has been given access by associating the Application object with the User object in eDirectory.

User Extensible policy

In Desktop Management, a policy that sets user-defined policies (from .adm files) for user objects. Only for Windows 2000/XP, this policy is an extension of extensible policies for Windows 2000/XP and Active Directory. This policy is contained in the User package.

User Package

In Desktop Management, a policy package which, by default, contains the Dynamic Local User policy, the Novell iPrint policy, the Remote Control policy, the Scheduled Action policy, the User Extensible policy, Windows Desktop Preferences policy, the Windows Group policy, and the Windows Terminal Server policy.

Unified View

In Server Management, a service that acts as a filter on the atlas. Using the Unified view, you can filter for a list of devices or segments of a particular type.

Unidentified software

The software dictionary might not identify all the software products installed in your network. The software that are not listed in the dictionary are called Unidentified software.

Unnumbered Link

In Server Management, a point to point link between routers with no IP address bound to interfaces on the two ends of the WAN link.
