When you run the UNIX Policy and Distribution Services installation script, you will need to provide the following information:
Tree name: The installation script will create Distributor and/or Subscriber objects in eDirectory. You must know the name of the tree where you want the objects created. For example:
CORP_TREE
Server name: The installation script must be able to authenticate to a server that holds a replica of the eDirectory tree where you want Distributor and/or Subscriber objects created. This could be a UNIX, NetWare, or Windows server. You must know either the fully qualified DNS host name or the IP address of the server in order for the installation script to identify it in your network. For example:
NWserver5.novell.com
123.45.678.9
Username: To enable the installation script to authenticate to the eDirectory server, you must know the fully distinguished username and password for a user with Admin-equivalent rights to the tree. For example:
admin.users
Object context: You need to determine the eDirectory context where you want the installation script to create Distributor and/or Subscriber objects. You can use an existing container, such as the container where the Server object is located. Or, because Distributor and Subscriber objects are used by Tiered Electronic Distribution (TED), you might want to create a new TED container to hold Distributor and Subscriber objects. You might want the TED container to reside in a ZfS container that could hold container objects for other types of ZfS objects. For example:
TED.ZfS.NovellApps
If you have already installed Policy and Distribution Services on NetWare or Windows servers, the eDirectory tree already has a container for Distributor and Subscriber objects.
Distributor object name: If the UNIX server where you are installing Policy and Distribution Services will function as a Distributor, you must choose a unique name for the Distributor object. The name you choose should retain the UNIX server's identity. For example:
Distributor_UNIXserver47
Subscriber object name: If the UNIX server where you are installing Policy and Distribution Services will function as a Subscriber, you must choose a unique name for the Subscriber object. The name you choose should retain the UNIX server's identity. For example:
Subscriber_UNIXserver47
When you provide the object names during installation, you will need to provide the object context along with the object name. For example:
Distributor_UNIXserver47.TED.ZfS.NovellApps
IMPORTANT: Do not use double-byte or extended characters in the object names or object contexts.
